On a fine afternoon and with the wind at their backs Penclawdd proved too be to strong for visitors South Gower.

The home side opened the scoring with a fine jinking 50 yard individual break from centre Rob Richards following an excellent steal at the line out by impressive second row Alex O’Driscoll.

South Gower bounced back but stern defence by Penclawdd forced an error out wide. Penclawdd kicked through from deep, winger Carl Austin chased and harried well and was rewarded with an excellent touch down in the corner.

The home side grew in confidence but missed several opportunities to extend their lead until following continuous pressure, tight head prop James Mabbett powered over from close range.

Ever present open side wing forward Barry Sugget took a well deserved score just before half time with a storming run after close support of his back line.

Full back Ceri Morris was successful with 3 out of 4 conversions to make the half-time score:

Penclawdd 26 South Gower 0.

From the second half kick off, the Penclawdd forwards won the ball and the backs combined well with full back Ceri Morris making good ground before off loading to centre Andrew Nicholas for a first class try in the corner.

Penclawdd continued to put the pressure on but with the benefit of a strong wind South Gower were able to clear their lines more easily. It was a further 20 minutes before Penclawdd were able to turn pressure into points. Quick thinking from a penalty by scrum half Phillip Tucker put number 8 Rhodri Evans into space and there was simply no stopping the "big man" from 10 yards out.

Penclawdd sealed a comprehensive victory when winger Chris Morris intercepted out wide and after combining with centre Andrew Nicholas crashed over for an excellent final try. Full back Ceri Morris converted to make the final score:

Penclawdd 43 - South Gower 0.

Substitutions (all second half) Mark Williams/Carl Austin

Some poor decision making within close range of the opposition try line.
