Laugharne emerged victorious from a see-saw encounter during which the lead had changed no fewer than seven times.

The match started positively with both teams showing plenty of early endeavour. Offside in the Penclawdd midfield allowed Lynch the Laugharne outside half the opportunity to open the home team's account with a straightforward penalty kick from in front of the post just inside the visitors twenty-two.

Penclawdd struck back almost immediately from the kick off. A mix up in the Laugharne forwards was capitalised on by wing James Elliott who linked with second row Paul Issac who made good ground before being tackled some fifteen metres short of the try line. From the ensuing ruck scrumhalf Paul James darted through a gap and crossed the line for the Club's first League try of the season. The conversion attempt by outside half Rhys Williams narrowly missed.

There followed a further forty three metre penalty goal from number ten Lynch, when the Penclawdd midfield were adjudged to have obstructed a kick ahead, before Penclawdd scored the try of the afternoon. From a line out close to half way wing forwards Spencer Bessant and Scott Ratti combined to drive close to the Laugharne twenty-two. From the ruck that followed the ball was swiftly moved via number eight and captain, Leigh Ratti, to hooker Owen Williams who cut the Laugharne defensive line with a good angled run, only to be hauled down just short of the home tryline. With the ball being swiftly recycled and moved to the left, Rhys Williams crossed unopposed for a well-worked team try. Williams added the conversion to make the score 15 points to six to the visitors.

With both teams finding it difficult to adjust to the interpretation of the match official at the breakdown, there followed an exchange of a further four penalties, two each for Williams and Lynch to leave the score at the interval at eighteen points to twelve to Penclawdd.

Half Time Score: Laugharne 12 Penclawdd 18

The second half started in much the same manner as the first had ended with both teams unable to exert any clear dominance. Play was punctuated by the referee's whistle, particularly at ruck and tackle situations, and the confusion led to some frustration amongst the players.

Some ten minutes into the half a Laugharne attack down the left flank ended in a kick and chase to the corner which was won by a Penclawdd defender but at the expense of a five metre scrum. From this the home team moved the ball into midfield and a simple switch between the outside half and centres resulted in a try underneath the posts which was converted by Lynch.

Rhys Williams then regained the lead for the visitors with a well struck penalty goal. This two point lead was short lived however as a further penalty goal from Lynch took Laugharne into the lead for the final time.

The final score of the match came shortly before the end when the Laugharne replacement flanker snatched the ball from a loose throw and powered his way over from thirty metres out. Despite the endeavours of the visitors they were unable to claw back the six point defecit and the match ended in a narrow victory for the home team.

Final Score: Laugharne 27 Penclawdd 21
